Spring Break

I had the entire week off from work for spring break. Here is a review of all the fun things we got to do!

Monday~We were still in Beaver City after spending the weekend down there. We drove home that afternoon and unfortanetly Carson got car sick on the way home. I quickly pulled over and stood there for a brief second trying to decide what I could possibly do to help the situation. I quickly opened the back and attempted to find some clean clothes, a plastic bag, and wipes that were all burried under the stroller. A State Patrol man pulled over to make sure everything was fine and at that point I was close to having things under control when a road grader came down the road...and of course the dirt was all blowing towards the Jeep. We got all the doors closed just in time! 40 minutes of driving with the smell of a puke covered carseat came close to making me throw up as well!

Tuesday~ Carson had preschool in the morning and then after naps we drove to Lexington for a playdate with Kagan, Laikyn & Kannon. Jason also managed to squeeze in enough time to check Carson's eyes and we are happy to report he has 20/20 vision. The kids enjoyed playing at the church park and we all enjoyed supper at San Pedro.

Wednesday~ Another playdate....this time Stef & Eiley came over to our house to play! She will be coming to our house for a few Fridays while her sitter is on maternity leave so we were happy to spend some time with her before hand. It was great to talk with Stef and I really wish she would come back to work for KPS!

Thursday~ We had some overdue books so we made a trip to the Library and Carson & Collin enjoyed playing with some toys, reading books and of course....we brought a huge bag full home!Carson had his hearing checked at ESU 10 that afternoon. I have assisted with many of these for my kids on my caseload and decided it would be nice to know more about Carson's ears. He happens to have "selective" hearing! Carson ended up throwing up AGAIN this evening and he later told me that he drank some milk from a cup that had been sitting out all day. GROSS! He was in the bathtub when he did it but that bad part was Collin was too!

Friday~ We made a trip to the Children's Museum and the kids had a good time. We had to leave early though because Carson has been a little rough with Collin the past couple of days and he decided to hit me when I asked him to play nicely. I promptly placed him in time-out and said if he was mean again we would go home....and then he kicked me! Oh....I just love having a 3 year old! So...our trip to the museum was cut short but hopefully next time he'll remember to be nice.

Brett came home tonight and we will be spending the rest of the weekend together as a family!

A quick little note about Carson.....he came downstairs on Thursday night and asked me to shut off his pet pig, Wilbur. I was trying to get him shut off and I looked up and he was winking at me. He leaned in and gave me a big hug and said, "I love it when you get to stay home all the time. It makes me happy!" I teared up. I've enjoyed the past week together too!

Grandma & Collin

On Saturday we drove down to Beaver City (in separate vehicles) and attending the wedding reception of Jamie Strayer & Austin Roper on Saturday night. Brett & I enjoyed catching up with Kerrie and finally meeting her boyfriend, Kevin over 3 buckets of beer (I only had 1 so I felt good the next morning)! Brett left for MO on Sunday morning and after lunch we drove out to Danielle & Cory's to see all the animals. Carson thought it was fun and I think Brock & Saige enjoyed showing us around. We all enjoyed the nice weather and went for walks, Carson got a haircut, and played at the library. Unfortanetley, our drive home didn't go so well. Carson was complaining about a headache and ended up throwing up all over the car! I think the icecream and Bug Juice didn't settle too well because he was fine the rest of the night.

New Light and Recliner

We decided to spend some of our 2008 income tax return money on updates for the house and put the rest into savings. One of our purchases was a new leather recliner from Ashley Furniture. Brett and I both said we really needed a recliner/rocker after spending many nights up with sick kids the past 2 months.

We also decided it was time for a new light in our dining room. I was very tired of looking at the old antique one! We purchased our new one from Menard's and it was the last one so we were able to get the floor model. Brett had some troubles getting it up and once we figured out that the store had the wrong size bulbs in it that was making it flicker and buzz, we were very pleased with the way it looks. Our dining room has never been so bright before!

9 Months Old

Collin turned 9 months old yesterday. The past month or so has been a difficult time for him. Between his hospital stay, our trip to Omaha, crawling and teething.....there hasn't been much sleep in our household! He is now as busy as ever crawling all over, pulling himself up to stand and even letting go! He recently began eating more table foods like cheese, tortilla, yogurt puffs, and toast. I imagine we will be adding more table foods now that he has two teeth coming through on the bottom. Last week he FINALLY started babbling. I've been a bit concerned about him but my co-workers kept telling me not to worry since he was making a variety of sounds. He stayed awake late the first night just so he could practice saying "baba". He is now also saying "dada". At his follow-up appointment a week after being dismissed from the hospital, he weighed 15 lbs 5 oz.

Trip to Omaha

Something to do when you are bored....play with post-its!

Big boy!

Swimming at the hotel.

I had a 3 day Early Childhood Conference in Omaha last week. My mom went along to watch the boys in the hotel so that I could nurse Collin over my breaks. Everything went pretty well...except for sleeping! The first night I got about 3 hrs and my mom thinks she got only 1 hr!! The 2nd night went better...Collin slept with me, Carson got his own bed to sprawl out in, and my mom slept on the couch in the other room. During the day they walked to Cabela's, rode the elevator and played games & read books in the room. Brett came through on his way home on Wednesday night and we did some shopping and ate at Famous Dave's.
