Monster Trucks

The boys heard the advertisment for the Monster Trucks on the radio and asked  begged me to buy tickets. I've never been to a show before and I thought this might be the perfect opportunity to do something fun with just Carson & Collin so I headed to the gas station and purchased advance tickets for the Friday night show.

 This monster truck was the first one to go around the track and it tipped and got stuck in this exact position. It was quite a way to start a show!

 Getting boys to look at a camera when there is trucks around is almost impossible!

I have to say it was quite an experience. The boys loved the trucks and I enjoyed listening to their belly laughs at the clown. He was down right entertaining!



First Day of Second Grade

Wednesday night was the Meet & Greet night (as well as school pictures) at Carson's new school. He was nervous about meeting his teacher and being around classmates he's never met. I wasn't worried about him because I know he makes friends easily and is an all around good kid.

He really wasn't excited about me taking a picture of him with his new teacher but I wouldn't go without!

It was a cool morning so Carson's plans of wearing a t-shirt and shorts were changed to jeans and a jacket. His backpack was so full of school supplies that I think he's standing funny in this picture just to keep from falling over!

It's hard to believe I have a second grader, however, I'm looking forward to watching this great kid grow into a young man and I know he'll have a fabulous education at one of the best schools in town. It just so happens that I was a para educator at this elementary school for three years.



Another Cleanup

I spent the evening cleaning up the boys & patio from our paint with pudding night and several hours later I was repeating the same cleanup steps. The irrigation pipe that runs behind our house and will hopefully be burried/moved someday was leaking water everywhere. Gordon came over to make a path for the water to run into the street to drain. Of course the boys had to get in on the muddy action!

Annual Paint with Pudding

This is our 3rd Annual "Back to School" Paint with Pudding. I'm not exactly sure why I started this or why it has become an annual event but the kids sure love it and it's one last summer hurrah before I start a new school year and they start school as well. I think I will let these pudding filled pictures speak for themselves!

Brett spent another LONG 4 weeks in Texas so the past 7 days he has been home has been extra special. They've wrestled, played catch, fished, cooked breakfast, and enjoyed every minute of it.

Freezer meals

I've been prepping for the start of the school year by making some freezer meals to have on hand for the busy nights when I just don't have the time to cook. For some reason it excites me to see that I have 10+ meals just waiting for me in there :) I'm not one of those people who have the time to spend an entire day prepping, cooking, and freezing....but it is easy for me to split my meals in half and freeze one. School starts soon and although my work schedule won't be any different than it has been this summer, I feel better prepared for the nights when homework and practicing spelling words will be consuming a bit more of my time.
