Crash!

While Carson was taking a nap yesterday, Collin pulled himself up to the couch where I was sitting talking on the phone with Brett. He stood there for awhile and then decided he was ready to get back down....only he didn't do it so carefully. He fell pretty hard onto Carson's wooden wagon full of blocks. Poor little guy. He now has a nasty bruise on his forehead.

Sick Boys

The boys in our house have been far from healthy the past two weeks. Carson came down with a cough first and was tested for RSV and diagnosed with croup. He continued to get worse and spiked a fever but Dr. Becker did blood work and said it was strictly viral. That same day we had blood work done on Collin and it came back as being viral also. Carson came through his okay with nothing left but a nasty cough. Collin, on the other hand, took a turn for the worse. He had a great day at daycare Monday but the last hour he was there he started coughing more. Jill suggested I give him a treatment when I got home. I did that and noticed a "wheezing" sound and he had a fever so I ran him into Urgent Care. Dr. Rodgers admitted him to the hospital so they could monitor him overnight. He has an ear infection in his right ear and test results came back positive for RSV. He did not require any oxygen but he had to have treatments every 4 hours. Brett left early Monday morning for Missouri so Grandma Betty came up (again) to help with Carson and keep Collin and I company while he was at preschool. We were released 24 hours later and he is doing pretty well, other than some rattling in his chest and he gets very crabby when he is tired. I haven't quite figured out how to get him to sleep easily either! Grandma Carol took Carson for a few nights so Collin and I could catch up on our sleep. I bet he is enjoying being spoiled!

Collin is Crawling!!

Collin turned 8 months old today and he celebrated by mastering crawling yesterday! He's already getting into things! He now weighs 15lbs 12oz. He loves to eat baby food and recently had his first bite of ice cream. We never would have done that with Carson!!

Update

Brett has been working in Bowling Greens, MO since right before Christmas. Since it is an 8 hour drive he will be staying 10 to 11 days at a time. We plan to get web cams so that Carson and Collin (and me) can see him and he can see them. This is the first week that he has been gone and so far it hasn't been too bad for me or the kids. But Carson is started to ask more often, "When will daddy be home?"

Carson started Rookie Soccer at the YMCA last week. It is every Tuesday night from 5:45-6:15pm. He was a little shy the first night so I am anxious to see how he does this week. He is excited about going again. Carson has done much better about going to sleep at night lately. I am so thankful for this because I wasn't looking forward to the 2 hour struggle by myself!

Collin had his 6 month check-up on January 2nd (4 days shy of being 7 months) and he weighs 15lbs 1oz and is 26 inches long. Dr. Becker was a little concerned since he has dropped to the 5% for weight and 25% for height. Hopefully things change before his 9 month check-up. He has been sitting for longer and longer periods of time each day and just yesterday he figured out how to get up on his knees by himself and rock. Look out! About 2 weeks ago he started waving to people and he also makes a little "h" sound at times that sounds like "hi" but I'm just not convinced that he is saying it yet. And of course now that Carson is sleeping good...Collin isn't! I think he is teething. He is up several times a night and wants to nurse and refuses to take his pacifier. I'm afraid he is getting into the habit of falling asleep on my chest too :) Naps have been a challenge too....especially at daycare (right Jill?!). It appears being home for 2 weeks over Christmas break has thrown his schedule all off.

Not much new with me. Still adding more and more kids to my caseload each month. Not sure how many we will end up with by the end of the year but it will be the most we've had since I began the position 3 years ago. Since Brett is gone, I needed something to do and decided to join a book club with some people from work. I've got my first book and should really think about opening it ;) I also joined Weight Watchers AGAIN on New Years day. I've lost 5 more pounds with it so hopefully I can keep it up and get back to my normal weight again.

It Won't Be Long!
